CCCA is a project run by Bill Kirby that is cataloging and presenting
art created by Canadian artists. The CCCA site now has over ten thousand
images of art of all different forms including painting,
photography, sculpture, installations and textiles. The site includes a
list of artists, information about the artist, their work and contact
information. The work of each artist is presented in a thumbnail page
and also detail about each work. Webfarm also developed a timeline where
one can view thumbnails of an artists work in chronological order and
then select images to be displayed side by side for comparison in a way
that is familiar to anyone who has taken an art appreciation class.
The site at http://www.ccca.ca/ is a combination of static pages and dynamically
generated content. All of the works are managed through a database for museum
information systems called Multi MIMSY by Willoughby Associates. The web interface
is built on a product called the Instant Internet Interface that Webfarm developed
for Willoughby. This is an example of using the III core and libraries to quickly
build interesting, dynamic web applications
The CCCA site has recently passed the milestone of having over two hundred
artists from all around Canada and over ten thousand images of Contemporary
Canadian Art..
