WebObjects
WebObjects is a product from Apple Computer that started off it's life at
NeXT as a series of frameworks for dealing with application functions and data
management. The combination of Web frameworks, application foundation frameworks
and the Enterprise Objects framework make WebObjects an extremely powerful environment
for rapid application development in a web environment.
In contrast to application servers that were spawned from web applications,
the foundation of WebObjects is a mature application framework that has been
evolving in the OpenStep world for many years. The quality and elegance of the
Object Oriented frameworks in OpenStep have been the heart of many critical
systems including the very first web server and browser. Tim Berners-Lee was
programming on NeXT Step when he developed the protocols and programs that would
become the World Wide Web.
